Player biography

Marcus Smith made his senior debut for Harlequins during the 2017/18 season and has since gone on to make 59 apperances and score over 430 points for the Club in all competitions.

He enjoyed an exceptional campaign in his first season in the quartered shirt, scoring 179 points in 26 appearances, including accomplished performances away to Wasps and at Big Game 10 in front of more than 77,500 supporters. At the conclusion of the campaign, he was rewarded with a hat-trick of prizes at the End-of-Season awards where he was named IG Players' Player of the Season, adidas Supporters' Player of the Season and the Nick Duncombe Young Player of the Season.

Smith was also included in Eddie Jones' England training squad for the Autumn Internationals and the Natwest Six Nations, as well as being nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. He also won the Young Sportsman of the Year at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA).

At the conclusion of the season, he travelled to France for the World U20 Championship where England reached the final and narrowly lost to the hosts.

In 2019/20, Smith's form was equally impressive, scoring 237 points across his 31 appearances for the Club, earning himself a starting shirt in England's Quilter Cup match against the Barbarians in June, a fixture where he was named "Man of the Match". He was also named in Eddie Jones' wider training squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
